5 jobs worth your time this week

Apprentice pay this week: $21.75/hr. That is the median advertised wage across 291 live apprentice listings on findHVACJobs. Four of this week's picks pay you to learn. The fifth is for techs who already know the trade and want a truck, a bonus, and mountains.

Best overall

HVAC/R Apprentice, Commercial & Industrial — CoolSys · Seattle, WA
$25–$30/hr · Quarterly bonus · Tuition reimbursement + 401(k) match

Why we picked it: The floor is above this week's apprentice median, and Washington is the #2 paying state on our board right now. Commercial refrigeration is one of the stronger long-term specialties in the trade.

Worth knowing: Not zero-experience. CoolSys prefers a year in a trade and a trade-school or technical program behind you.

4 more worth checking

HVAC Apprentice Technician — Trane Technologies · Maitland, FL
$13.87–$24.27/hr · No industry experience required · Benefits on day one

The only truly no-experience opening this week, at a manufacturer with a real training program, tuition assistance, and 15 vacation days.

Worth knowing: That floor is low. Where you land in the range depends on any training you already have. You also need 12 months on your license with a clean record.

Apprentice HVAC Technician — Star City Heating & Cooling · Lincoln, NE
$19–$25/hr · Tuition reimbursement · 401(k) match + 9 paid holidays

Service-side apprenticeship (diagnose and repair, not just install) in a state that ranks #5 for advertised HVAC pay this week at $86,840.

Worth knowing: Bring your own basic hand tools. EPA 608 is preferred, not required.

HVAC Install Apprentice — Hiller · Dickson, TN
$16–$22/hr · Paid training · 401(k) match + company-paid life insurance

A large family-owned shop with 17 locations, year-round work, and a stated no-layoffs policy.

The catch: The title says apprentice, but the listing asks for prior HVAC apprentice experience and EPA certified or pursuing. Treat this as a second job, not a first one.

HVAC/R Technician, Commercial — Four Corners Service Company · Farmington, NM
$18–$40/hr · Take-home company vehicle · Performance bonuses + 401(k) match

For experienced techs, not apprentices. A family-run shop 50 miles from Durango that is openly recruiting relocators: company phone, paid vacation and sick leave, year-round work. The listing includes a direct number to call or text.

Worth knowing: The range is wide. Where you fall on $18–$40 is set by your experience, so know your number before you call.

The Number

$21.75/hr

The median advertised pay for HVAC apprentice openings right now, across 291 live listings. Helpers are advertising $23.50/hr across 68 listings.

Not a survey. These are the wages employers are posting this week.

The Move

Before you pay for trade school, check whether your state will cover the classroom half of an apprenticeship.

Georgia does. Air Conditioning Technology is HOPE Career Grant-eligible, so qualifying residents pay $0 tuition at a technical college while earning on the job. The union route is open too: UA Local 72 in Atlanta takes applications for its next HVACR class from November 1 through April 30.

What should we find next?
